Calling all "Twilight" readers!

Here's my dilemma: I've read the four books. I've even gone online and read Stephenie Meyer's "Midnight Sun" excerpt (is it really an excerpt?).

NOW WHAT?

I've got nothing left but depression. This hole where a fictitious vampire and his fictitious 17-year old love of his life have occupied for the last few weeks. It would be better if that were it. I could go on. But nooooooo! Now I've got the media frenzy over a killer gorgeous actor playing lead in what will undoubtedly be this year's hottest movie. Oy vey! For those of you who understand my pain, search no more. There's an online "support group" (insert muffled laughter here) at http://twilightmoms.com/ where you can find others who share this sad, sad, sad disease... tsk, tsk. Darn you Stephenie Meyer -- why'd you have to be so good?!

SAVE THE DRAMA FOR YOUR MAMA!

Can I just say that I am waaaaay tired of the kid drama?
There's too much emotion, hormonal anxiety, gossip, drama, drama, DRAMA!!! I am the mediator, the negotiator, the conflict resolution instructor, the Christian witness example to follow, etc., etc., and the tired mother this summer! I am growing more and more bleary-eyed of the line between child conflict and parent conflict. When I was a child, I sure don't remember my parents or any of our parents getting involved in any of our conflicts. Nowadays, it seems all neighbors have opinions. It seems a matter of neighborhood diplomacy to maintain peaceful relations by keeping the peace between our children. Crazy!

Intermission into summertime...

Is it too early too feel nostalgic? I went to see "Mama Mia" with a friend the other day -- and that part in the movie where they sing "Slipping Through my Fingers" got me all teary-eyed about my own girls. They grow up so fast. I'm holding on to everything. My son is going through the terrible three's -- they're worse than the two's (waaaay worse), but I'm even embracing the naughtiness of his behavior at this age!! Can you believe what the guilt will do to a mom? Unbelievable!
